At least three killed in suspected terror attack in Israel – CNN

Israeli police said two attackers fired a rifle and an axe at people in the Israeli city of Elad on Thursday. Two people were taken to a hospital, one in critical condition and the other in serious condition.

A gunman shot and killed two people at a bar in Tel Aviv, and 11 people were killed in three attacks in one week in Israel.

The US State Department condemned Thursday’s suspected terror attack in Israel as “despicable” and said it would provide any assistance required.

At least three people were killed and four others were wounded in a stabbing attack near Tel Aviv, Israel, on Thursday night. Police have set up roadblocks and dispatched a helicopter to search for the attackers.

A medic with Israel’s Magen David Adom rescue service described three dead and four wounded at the scene, and urged the public to avoid the area.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the attack, saying it led to more deterioration.

The Palestinian militant group Hamas praised the attack and linked it to violence at the Jerusalem holy site.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site in Islam and the Temple Mount is the holiest site for Jews.

Israeli police entered the site of the mosque to clear away Palestinian protesters after Jewish visits that had been paused for the Muslim holidays resumed. Scuffles broke out and police fired rubber-coated bullets on the sprawling esplanade as some Palestinians sheltered inside the mosque itself.

Jews have been visiting the Temple Mount in increasing numbers, angering the Palestinians and neighboring Jordan. Israel says it is committed to maintaining the status quo.

Five attacks have killed at least 18 Israelis and nearly 30 Palestinians in Israel and the West Bank. Most of those killed were involved in confrontations with Israeli forces.
