16-Year-Old Girl Vanishes From Lake Tahoe Campground

A massive search was underway Tuesday morning for 16-year-old Kiely Rodni, who vanished after telling family she would head home from a high school graduation sendoff early Saturday. The Placer County Sheriff’s Office has said they were investigating a possible abduction.

Sam Smith, her friend, said she spent most of the night with Rodni, and they were both having fun. “Rodni was not the type to drive drunk or anything.”

Lindsey Rodni-Nieman says her daughter texted her around 12:15 a.m. Saturday to say she was heading home. Smith said there were plenty of attendees whom she had not previously met, but none seemed suspicious.

Search crews and police from multiple counties searched the area beginning early Tuesday morning. They used boats, aircraft, and all-terrain vehicles to search for survivors.

The girl was last seen leaving a party in the Tahoe National Forest around 12:15 a.m. Her car, which was last seen driving away, is also unaccounted for.

Tahoe kids are being asked to come forward with information about the party.

Rodni’s mother is asking partygoers and their parents to check their social media posts and videos for signs of the girl.

Kiely Rodni was last seen wearing green Dickies pants, a black tank top, and jewelry and has a nose ring and several other piercings.

The California Highway Patrol is also asking people to call 911 if they see Rodni and to share Rodni’s story to raise awareness.

There is currently a $50,000 reward for information leading to her safe return:
