A hobo with a machete attacks two grocery store employees

MIAMI, FL – A violent altercation unfolded outside a Miami supermarket Monday afternoon, leaving several people injured, including a security guard who was slashed with a machete. The incident, which occurred at a Sedano’s store on West 13th Avenue, began when a homeless man allegedly attempted to steal from the store.

According to Miami police, the suspect was confronted by the store manager while attempting to take a chain from the back of the store. A struggle ensued, during which the manager was punched in the face, rendering him unconscious.

As the confrontation escalated, a security guard intervened, only to be attacked with a machete by the suspect. The security guard sustained a serious slash wound but is expected to recover. The suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended by police. He now faces multiple felony charges.

Authorities have confirmed the suspect is a 38-year-old man, though his identity has not been released. Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene as police and emergency responders arrived to assist the injured and secure the area.

Local residents expressed shock at the violence, noting that such incidents are uncommon in the neighborhood. “It’s frightening to think something like this could happen so close to home,” said one shopper who frequents the store.

The supermarket chain has yet to release an official statement, but police have verified the details of the incident after initial reports suggested conflicting accounts.

Investigators are continuing to gather information and are expected to release further details as the case progresses. Meanwhile, community members are left to grapple with the unsettling reality of a violent crime occurring in a typically peaceful area.
