Minneapolis, Minnesota – Former Minnesota Vikings player Adrian Peterson found himself in legal trouble once again, this time for suspicion of driving under the influence. The 40-year-old was reportedly driving 83 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone in an Audi Q5 early Friday morning. A State Patrol trooper noticed the speeding vehicle on Hwy. 77 near E. 66th Street in Richfield around 3:20 a.m., leading to Peterson’s arrest. According to Patrol Lt. Mike Lee, Peterson’s blood alcohol content was nearly twice the legal limit in Minnesota, measuring at 0.14% when tested.
This incident adds to a list of previous encounters with law enforcement for the former star running back. From allegations of assaulting his son to past traffic violations, Peterson’s legal history has been tumultuous. Despite now living in suburban Houston, Peterson was in Minneapolis for the Vikings draft party when the arrest occurred.
Peterson was taken into custody on a misdemeanor count of fourth-degree driving while impaired around 5:15 a.m. He later posted bond and was released from custody. The Minnesota Star Tribune reached out to Peterson for comment on the allegations, but no response has been provided as of yet.
The Vikings, who provided transportation to former players for the draft party at U.S. Bank Stadium, saw Peterson leaving the event in a team-provided shuttle at 9 p.m. the night before his arrest. This recent incident serves as a reminder of the challenges Peterson has faced off the field since his days as a standout player in the NFL.
