(AbsoluteNews.com) – It’s been almost 20 years since the September 11 terrorist attacks that killed 2,977 people on American soil. The attacks were the worst in the country’s history and led to two decades of war. Days before the somber anniversary, the alleged masterminds of the attacks were recently in court, and their behavior was quite infuriating.
On Tuesday, September 7, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Walid bin Attash, Mustafa al Hawsawi, Ramzi bin al-Shibh, and Ammar al-Baluchi were in court for a pretrial hearing. According to reporters, the men seemed to be in great moods. They were even seen smiling and talking to one another. Mohammed, the alleged mastermind of the attacks, even waved at a journalist.

The 5 men are on trial for terrorism, conspiracy and almost 3,000 counts of murder. Tuesday was their first court appearance in roughly 500 days. The case, however, has been ongoing for nearly a decade.
The news of the defendants’ behavior in court comes the same week authorities identified the remains of two more World Trade Center victims. On Saturday, America will mark the 20th anniversary of the attacks and unfortunately, the families left behind are still waiting for justice.
