(AbsoluteNews.com) – Anne Rice was a prolific American writer who was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and re-introduced vampires to the world. Throughout her years, she published 30 successful books and sold over 150 million copies of her stories all over the world. Her writing journey started in 1976, after the tragic passing of her young daughter. Interview with a Vampire became one of the best-selling books around the globe, turning into a blockbuster movie starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. Rice said her father inspired the theme of her first novel.
She followed up her vampire best-seller with a series of Vampire Chronicles, bringing to life ousted members of society and defying genre boundaries to weave her tales.
The author once said the theme of her novels became stories of how “one suffers as an outcast.” Rice not only wrote her gothic books about vampires, but witches, demons and mummies. Although her words will live on through her works, the world lost an iconic storyteller.
