(AbsoluteNews.com) – Crime rates are rising across the US. Even President Joe Biden admitted there’s been an increase in violent crime and that the government needs to address it. However, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) doesn’t seem to be very concerned about it. In fact, she’s still attacking the police.
During a June Zoom call with Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), AOC dismissed concerns about the rising crime rate calling it “hysteria.” She said that although any spike in crime is a concern, people have to “look at these numbers in context” so that lawmakers can make decisions about how to best reduce it.

Bowman later said police departments should be defunded and AOC agreed with him. She then blamed the media for talking about the spike and said that has people believing that crime is at an “unprecedented level that we’ve never seen before.”
Her recent remarks come just weeks after she claimed the way to solve crime in the US is by not building jails. As if running out of places to put criminals is somehow going to stop them from committing crimes.
Perhaps if the congresswoman put as much time into supporting law enforcement and making sure they have the resources they need, she wouldn’t have to worry about downplaying the crime wave. And she could actually be doing her job to keep her constituents safe, something she’s failing miserably at right now.
