Atlanta, Georgia – A rapper with ties to notable musicians Future and Waka Flocka Flame tragically passed away on his 39th birthday in his hometown of Atlanta after sustaining a leg injury while attempting to evade law enforcement, according to authorities and various media reports.
The late artist, whose real name is Kenneth Edward Bailey but was known professionally as Young Scooter, was pronounced dead by Atlanta’s Fulton County medical examiner’s office. The incident unfolded as Atlanta police responded to reports of gunfire at a residence on William Nye Drive SE, where a woman was allegedly being forcefully pulled back inside.
Officials detailed how two individuals sought to flee the scene when police began investigating. One of them reentered the residence, while the other attempted to escape by jumping over two fences and subsequently injuring his leg. The officers clarified that the injury was not inflicted by them but occurred during the fleeing process.
After being taken to Grady Marcus trauma center, Bailey succumbed to his injuries. The specific cause of death remains undetermined as an autopsy is set to be conducted.
Hailing from Waterboro, South Carolina, Young Scooter seized the spotlight in Atlanta’s hip-hop scene at a young age, contributing to the genre’s commercial success during the 2010s. He collaborated with renowned artists like Future, Young Thug, Juicy J, Kodak Black, and Rick Ross, showcasing his versatility and unique style.
In a 2013 interview with Complex, Young Scooter shed light on his artistic process, emphasizing his focus on money-related themes in his music. He expressed his belief that overthinking lyrics can hinder creativity, advocating for a more intuitive and spontaneous approach to songwriting.
Last year, he unveiled his project “Trap’s Last Hope,” featuring tracks such as “Grind Dont Stop,” “Ice Game,” “Free Bands,” and “Letter to God.” The album served as a testament to Young Scooter’s enduring impact and continued relevance in the rap industry, solidifying his legacy as a respected figure in the music community.
