Los Angeles, California – Author Jillian Shriner, wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, was shot by police in an unfortunate turn of events while officers were in search of a suspect linked to a hit-and-run incident in East Los Angeles. Authorities have disclosed that Jillian Shriner was later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the incident that transpired on Tuesday.
The situation unfolded on Tuesday afternoon when the California Highway Patrol sought additional assistance in tracking down three suspects involved in a hit-and-run misdemeanor who had fled into a residential area near the freeway. Police officers were led to a backyard where one of the suspects was spotted fleeing. Amidst this commotion, Jillian Shriner, 51 years old, was found in a neighboring yard with a handgun in her possession. Despite repeated orders from the officers to drop the weapon, Shriner adamantly refused and instead aimed the handgun at the officers, prompting them to open fire in an Officer-Involved Shooting.
As a result of the gunfire, Shriner sustained injuries and sought refuge inside her residence. Paramedics later attended to her gunshot wound at a local hospital, classifying it as non-life-threatening. Following medical treatment, she was taken into custody for attempted murder and subsequently released after posting a $1 million bond, per the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.
Meanwhile, one of the male suspects tied to the hit-and-run was arrested by the California Highway Patrol, cited, and then released. The other two suspects, however, were able to evade capture. The authorities have assured that an active investigation is underway to piece together the unfolding events that led to the unfortunate situation in East Los Angeles.
Furthermore, Jillian Shriner, also known as Jillian Lauren, is an accomplished author recognized for her bestselling memoirs, notably “Some Girls: My Life in a Harem.” The incident has undoubtedly drawn attention not only due to her marriage to renowned musician Scott Shriner but also because of her literary accomplishments and intriguing past experiences.
The timing of this incident is particularly noteworthy as it comes just days before Weezer’s highly anticipated performance at Coachella, where the band is slated to appear on stage.
