Biden's Radical Nominee Confirmed By Senate

(AbsoluteNews.com) – The Senate continued making its way through the nominees for Joe Biden’s administration last week. Lawmakers approved one of his most controversial picks: Rachel Levine. She’s the first transgender woman to serve in the federal government.

Democrats have tried to paint Republicans who opposed Levine’s nomination as transphobic. It’s not Levine’s personal choices that make her problematic, it’s her policies and track record.

PA Nursing Home Data

On March 23, the Senate confirmed Levine 52-48. The confirmation vote was almost entirely along party lines, only two Republicans — Senators Susan Collins (ME) and Lisa Murkowski (AK) — voted with Democrats.

Conservative lawmakers were uncomfortable with Levine’s nomination, in part, because of the unanswered questions surrounding nursing home deaths during COVID-19 in Pennsylvania while she was the secretary of Health. According to reports, the PA Department of Health didn’t measure the impact of the virus for months. Then, when they started doing it in May 2020, the reports were incomplete.

Meanwhile, Levine had taken her mother out of the nursing home she was living in after directing facilities to take in COVID-19 positive patients. Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) accused her of failing to “adequately protect nursing home residents” during the pandemic.

Sex Change Operations

Another point of contention for Republicans was the false reports that Levine supported state-funded sex-change operations for kids. Although those allegations turned out to not be true, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) wanted to get her on the record disavowing the practice.

The senator asked Levine where she stands on “genital mutilation” of kids who are “confused” about their gender. Instead of condemning the practice outright, she dodged it calling transgender medicine a “complex and nuanced field.”

Levine will serve under Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra and will help craft health care policies for the entire country. One of the first challenges for the new health officials will be how to deal with the immigration crisis and where to house minors who are pouring into the country unaccompanied by any adults.
