Bangkok, Thailand – K-pop sensation Lalisa Manobal, widely known as Lisa of Blackpink, embraced a new challenge by venturing into the world of acting. With aspirations to expand her career, she decided to audition for a role in the popular show, The White Lotus, which was hosting auditions in her homeland. Initially nervous, Manobal went through a rigorous audition process in Phuket, impressing the casting team consisting of White and Bernad.
When approached about Lisa’s audition for The White Lotus, White admitted to being unsure due to his unfamiliarity with Blackpink. However, after witnessing Lisa’s talent during her second audition and recognizing her local influence, White’s skepticism transformed into belief in her potential. Now, Lisa expresses her eagerness to explore more acting opportunities, stating her interest in taking on new roles if the chance arises.
On the other hand, Tayme Thapthimthong, a former army member turned security personnel, found himself in new territory when approached for a role in the HBO drama, The White Lotus. Unaccustomed to dramas, he initially struggled to grasp the concept but eventually immersed himself in the tension-filled narrative. Despite his hiatus from acting, Thapthimthong seized the opportunity to return to the screen when the casting director offered him the role of Gaitok, a seemingly “useless” security guard in the show.
Reflecting on his past involvement in the entertainment industry, particularly in Mechanic 2, Thapthimthong realized his passion for acting reignited with the prospect of rejoining the field. His experience in security work and army service contributed to his unique perspective on portraying Gaitok, adding depth to his character portrayal. As both Lisa and Thapthimthong embrace new challenges in their acting careers, their journeys in The White Lotus showcase their talent and versatility as performers.
