A body and car were found in a Truckee lake where authorities and dive teams have been searching for missing 16-year-old Kiely Rodni for the past two weeks. It has not been confirmed by law enforcement that it is Rodni.
Adventures With Purpose, a YouTube dive team that helps people locate missing persons underwater came to the area last week to search for the missing teen and her vehicle. They started their search on Friday.
Adventures With Purpose told KCRA 3 that they used sonar to find the car.
Rodni was last seen on Aug. 6 at a large party with hundreds of like-aged teens at the Prosser Family Campground in Truckee, next to the lake. The teen disappeared, seemingly without a trace.
Authorities said the last known ping from Rodni‘s cell phone was made the same night around 12:30 a.m. near the lake.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office said seven personnel were assigned to Rodni Kiely’s case on Sunday morning. Hundreds of personnel, ground and aerial units have contributed to the search effort over the past two weeks.
