Police in Oklahoma City have released a video showing a suspect firing a weapon at three officers after they lifted the mattress he was hiding beneath.
During an incident in a rural area on Nov. 15, Timothy Johnson, who was wanted on a felony warrant out of state, died.
Police in the state’s capital were called to a travel trailer after Johnson was seen entering it and not coming out, according to police.
Jennifer Garner, who lived there, told officers no one was inside her home and gave officers permission to search it.
“Sammy, this is the police department. If you are in here you need to make yourself known,” says officer Elisa McCoy, addressing Johnson by his alias on bodycam footage released by police.
As the officers searched the property, they lifted a mattress to reveal Johnson hiding beneath it, armed with a pistol.
Two officers leave the trailer to take cover after exchanging gunfire with Johnson.
After re-entering the trailer, officers urged Johnson to “come out with your hands up.”
A flying piece of debris strikes one of the officers in the face, as more gunfire is exchanged.
According to Oklahoma City Police, Johnson was found dead by a tactical unit that had been called in after.
Garner was arrested for harboring a fugitive, while the three officers involved are on administrative leave pending an investigation.
