Brady Bunch’s Susan Olsen reveals chilling near-death experience on set that almost derailed iconic show

Los Angeles, CA – Susan Olsen, known for her role as Cindy Brady on “The Brady Bunch,” recently shared a harrowing experience from her time on the beloved sitcom. While on a podcast with former co-stars Christopher Knight and Barry Williams, Olsen revealed the near-death experience she had on the set of the show.

During filming, Olsen was injured when an object fell from the catwalk, hitting her in the face. The accident left her with visible injuries, which could be seen during a wedding scene between her on-screen parents. Despite the severity of her injuries, Olsen returned to work the next day, with only co-star Florence Henderson showing her concern and support.

Despite receiving injuries that left her with black eyes and a swollen face, Olsen found solace in the aftermath of the accident, even likening her appearance to that of a horror film character. To help cover her bruises, the show brought in Lucille Ball’s personal makeup artist from “I Love Lucy,” Hal King.

“The Brady Bunch” originally aired for five seasons from 1969 to 1974, followed by the variety show “The Brady Bunch Hour” in 1976. In 1995, a parody film called “The Brady Bunch Movie” was released, showcasing the enduring popularity of the series.

Olsen’s involvement in a potential reboot of the show came to a halt due to her political views. The actress claimed that her support for President Donald Trump and outspoken opinions on controversial topics led to the breakdown of the revival project. Olsen had hoped to portray Cindy Brady as a right-wing podcaster, but despite offering to take a class in “political correctness,” she was ultimately deemed too controversial to be a part of the new series.

Despite the setback, Olsen remained steadfast in her beliefs, asserting that Cindy Brady would have been portrayed as a libertarian podcaster, reflecting Olsen’s real-life persona. The actress expressed disappointment in not being able to continue her role after over 50 years in the iconic series, highlighting the challenges of navigating Hollywood in light of differing political views.
