CHICAGO, IL – In the Bridgeport neighborhood of south Chicago, a dead body was discovered inside the trunk of a burning car. The horrifying realization was made early on Friday morning. While they were responding to a call, police and fire department personnel arrived at an alley off the 3700-block of South Parnell Avenue at approximately 2:08 a.m.
After first responders extinguished the fire in the vehicle, they found a person inside the vehicle who was unresponsive. The victim that they found was secured in the trunk of the blazing automobile. The unresponsive individual was ultimately declared dead at the scene. Due to the severe burn damage, the victim’s identification could not be determined right away.
The car’s registered owner has reported to investigators that the vehicle may have been taken without permission. Reports indicate that it was recently at a dealership in Lansing for repairs. Claiming to be shocked by the incident, he cooperated with police inquiries at his residence later that day.
Detectives from Area One are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the grim discovery as the medical examiner’s office works on identifying the deceased.
No arrests have been made so far in connection to the incident. The local community is eager for more information about the victim’s mysterious and disturbing death.
