The father of a California woman is on the run and wanted for murder after allegedly shooting and killing her ex-boyfriend who was chasing her down a road in southern California.
In Palmdale, California on Monday afternoon, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report that a woman was being chased by her 26-year-old ex-boyfriend, who was driving a white Chrysler sedan, resulting in the two cars colliding multiple times.
As the woman called her family for assistance, the ex-boyfriend attempted to forcefully enter her car as their two cars stopped in the middle of the street.
Upon arriving at the scene, the woman’s father got out of his white Ford Ranger pickup and shot her ex-boyfriend in the head.
Upon being transported to a local hospital, Giovannie Gutierrez died of his injuries.
Jose Mendoza, 59, fled the scene and is on the run, according to police.
Authorities believe Mendoza is from Littlerock, California, which is approximately 30 miles southeast of Palmdale.
A Facebook post describes Mr. Mendoza as a Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes. He is 5′ 6″ tall and weighs 140 pounds. Mr. Mendoza is believed to be armed with a semi-automatic handgun.
