ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Washington Capitals traveled west for a matchup with the Anaheim Ducks, starting a series of games against Californian teams. This game was highly anticipated after the Caps had shut out the Ducks 3-0 in their previous meeting at Capital One Arena in January.
The Ducks came out strong, with Dylan Strome scoring early in the game against his brother’s team. Jacob Trouba and Drew Helleson also contributed goals for Anaheim. However, the Capitals fought back with goals from Aliaksei Protas, Pierre-Luc Dubois, and Anthony Beauvillier, eventually securing a 7-4 victory over the Ducks.
Aliaksei Protas had a standout performance, scoring his first career hat trick and showcasing his talent on the ice. Despite not receiving much power-play time, Protas proved to be a valuable asset for the Capitals throughout the game.
In the second period, the Capitals continued to dominate, with Pierre-Luc Dubois scoring his 17th goal of the season. Matt Roy provided a key assist, helping the former Los Angeles Kings players have a successful night. The team navigated Anaheim’s push effectively, maintaining their lead.
The third period saw a flurry of action, with Alex Ovechkin recording three assists but no goals. Despite the chaos, the Capitals managed to hold on for the win, with Anthony Beauvillier scoring his first goal with the team.
Looking ahead, the Capitals are set to face the Kings in their next game. With Darcy Kuemper potentially in net for LA, the team will look to continue their winning streak on the road.
