SEATTLE, WA – An ordinary evening at a Safeway parking lot erupted into chaos when a dispute over discarded chicken bones turned violent, leaving an Army veteran injured. The confrontation began when the veteran, who had just finished work, was enjoying a meal with his coworker in their parked car. They had purchased the store’s Monday night chicken special and were eating in the vehicle to avoid making a mess.
The trouble started when another driver parked nearby and accused the veteran of littering her vehicle with chicken bones. The veteran, who was discarding the bones out of the car to keep his coworker’s vehicle clean, found himself embroiled in a heated exchange. According to a police report, the situation escalated when the other driver attempted to slash the veteran’s tires with a pair of scissors.
In an attempt to prevent further damage, the veteran tackled the woman and restrained her, hoping to hold her until the police arrived. Meanwhile, the altercation was being recorded on a cell phone by the veteran’s coworker. Amidst the scuffle, the veteran did not initially notice that the woman had a gun.
As tensions flared, the woman fired the weapon, striking the veteran in the leg. Despite the chaos, he refrained from retaliating, instead focusing on restraining the assailant until help could arrive. A bystander, believed to be the suspect’s girlfriend, intervened but did not assist the wounded veteran.
The two women fled the scene, leaving the injured veteran behind. Authorities are actively searching for the suspect, urging her to surrender to law enforcement. The police are also appealing to the public for any information regarding the incident.
The veteran, who remains hospitalized, is concerned about his family’s well-being and the financial burden of medical expenses. He is determined to recover quickly to support his three children and mother-in-law, who depend on him.
As he awaits release from Harborview Medical Center, the veteran hopes for justice and a swift resolution to the shocking ordeal. Police continue to investigate, encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
