(AbsoluteNews.com) – The Democrats have a number of bills they’re trying to push through Congress using their slim majority. The infrastructure plan and overhaul to the election system are probably the most pressing for the party. Now that one of its members has come out against the tactics Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and his caucus want to use, it looks like nothing will get accomplished.
On June 6, Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) said he would not support the For The People Act. The moderate lawmaker explained that he can’t vote for a bill that not even a single Republican will vote to implement. In an op-ed, he said he believes reform “done in a partisan manner will all but ensure partisan divisions continue to deepen.”
Manchin has also said he isn’t ready to support using budget reconciliation to pass the infrastructure bill without any Republican support.
Just wrapped an interview w/ @Sen_JoeManchin in Morgantown. He REALLY isn’t interested in doing an infrastructure bill w/ only Democratic support. Repeatedly says he thinks there will be a bipartisan deal between @POTUS & @SenCapito – and he’s not ready for reconciliation if not

Unless Schumer and his party come to a bipartisan deal before the August recess, it looks like Manchin is going to be the adult in the party and block both bills. Remember when Biden promised he was going to reach across the aisle? Well, he has no choice but to do that now or his agenda will be dead in the water.
