Seattle, Washington – The Port of Seattle is currently dealing with a potential cyberattack that started over the weekend, resulting in significant disruptions for travelers at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Travelers have been experiencing missed flights and long delays due to outages in the airport’s web and online systems.
International travelers, including Maria Camilon Price and her daughter Alexis, found themselves waiting for hours in line to manually check in for their flight. The Prices had anticipated the outages and tried to plan ahead by arriving early, but the delays still proved to be a challenge.
Lena Frank and Jan Lintz, on the other hand, missed their connecting flight to Vancouver after waiting for two hours on the plane for a gate. Despite having a layover of two and a half hours, they ended up having to rebook their flight due to the unforeseen disruptions.
The Port of Seattle’s website remained inaccessible on Sunday, preventing travelers from accessing their flight status directly from the webpage. Additionally, phone systems at the Port’s Maritime Facilities were also affected, prompting the Port to provide alternative phone numbers for urgent matters.
The Seattle-Tacoma Airport advised travelers to allow extra time for airport procedures and to check with their airlines for specific travel information. They recommended completing flight check-ins online and carrying only carry-on luggage if possible to expedite the process.
Despite efforts to restore normal operations, there was no estimated time for the systems to fully return to normal. SeaTac Airport reassured travelers that they were working closely with authorities and partners to assist those impacted by the disruptions.
As the situation continues to evolve, updates on the outage and potential return time will be provided. Travelers are urged to stay informed and follow guidelines from the airport and their respective airlines for the latest information on their flights.
