Dad Charged With Murder For Throwing His 1-Year-Old Baby Off A Bridge

Police began a search for the missing girl and found her body in the Los Angeles River, authorities said. The search started after the girl’s father returned home with only one of his two children.

The father of the deceased 1-year-old girl, Leilani Dream Burley, has been charged with her murder. Jayveon Burley, 23, is also charged with assault against his daughter that contributed to her untimely death.

Lynisha Hull said her daughter was murdered by her father, who picked her up from school on Sunday nights and returned her on Wednesdays. Leilani’s grandmother reported her missing after her son returned home with only one of his two children.

Inglewood Police Department officers searched for the missing child in the LA River and discovered her remains in shallow water just below the Ocean Boulevard Bridge.

The family says they found out very recently that the baby was found in the water at Long Beach. However, according to Hull, a suspicious car ride preceded the moment of her daughter’s death.

Lynisha Hull said that Leilani Dream Burley failed to put her 1-year-old daughter in her carseat when loading the kids into the car, and then drove off “erratically” before throwing the child off a bridge. Her 3-year-old son was unharmed.

Hull described Burley as an overprotective father who had no history of violence toward their kids. Their other child, Zayveyon, is only three years old. The toddler was reportedly physically unharmed.

Burley was arrested in 2018 after allegedly robbing a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver at gunpoint. Police believe he was responsible for several other similar robberies.

A GoFundMe page has been established to help the victim’s family with funeral expenses. Leilani’s criminal father, Jayveon Burley, is currently being held on a $215,000 bond.
