New York, NY – Renowned frontman David Johansen of the New York Dolls has passed away at the age of 75. The iconic singer had recently revealed his battle with cancer and also suffered a broken back. Johansen’s wife Mara Hennessey and daughter Leah were with him at home when he peacefully passed, surrounded by music and flowers.
Johansen, known for his striking looks and flamboyant style, along with his New York Dolls bandmates, brought a unique energy to the music scene in the 1970s. Their blend of glam rock and punk influences left a lasting impact, despite never achieving mainstream chart success. Songs like “Personality Crisis” showcased Johansen’s powerful vocals, earning them praise from critics.
