(AbsoluteNews.com) – Beginning November 8, the United States changed the rules for international travel, requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination and a negative viral test to board a flight. However, the same restrictions do not apply to domestic travel. To address that fact, 36 Democrats wrote a letter to President Joe Biden asking him to expand mandates to avoid a winter surge of the coronavirus.
Representatives Don Beyer (D-VA) and Ritchie Torres (D-NY) led the charge to say mandates for travel within the United States are “necessary and long overdue,” especially with the holiday travel season approaching.

The group wants to incorporate the same travel requirements for all public transportation as the US has in place for international flights.
More mandates are likely to meet resistance among the population with many Americans balking at what they consider an overreach of the federal government. Anti-vax groups and proponents for freedom of choice will probably disagree with additional rules that impact their private health choices.
Legislators who agree with the mandate expansion explain they want to help limit the spread among people visiting loved ones or vacationing in other parts of the country, but implementing more vaccine mandates is not likely to go over well. So far, Biden hasn’t responded.
