Over the weekend, dirt bikes and Atvs swarmed the streets of Center City and other neighborhoods. Sunday Night Riders smashed the windows of an unoccupied police patrol unit and surrounded it with dirt bikes. The Mayor’s office says they will continue to confiscate and ticket bikes.

Police are searching for a man who threw a brick at a squad car, breaking the vehicle’s windshield, Sunday night in Northern Liberties.

One dirt bike rider crashed near the gas pumps and fled the scene on foot. A group of riders attacked police and threw objects at the vehicle, but no injuries were reported.

Police have a “no pursuit” policy when it comes to illegal dirt bikes and ATVs on city streets. However, state lawmakers passed legislation that allows them to confiscate, destroy or sell illegal dirt bikes and ATVs. A city spokesperson said dirt bikes and ATVs are illegal to operate on city streets and that police have confiscated hundreds of vehicles.

Police shared video of a dirt-bike rider near a gas station that had been reported stolen from New Jersey.

This criminal activity was considered by many to be reckless and troubling. For more information on the status of these dirt-bike riders, check out the news outlets that are listed below to stay in the know.
