MEMPHIS, TN – Brittany Burnette, a former nurse and elder care home director from Tennessee, found her life changed drastically after receiving the Covid vaccine in January 2021. The 34-year-old mother developed a condition that led to the rotting of her bones, resulting in multiple surgeries and ongoing medical complications.
Following the onset of the Covid pandemic in 2020, Burnette decided to take the Pfizer vaccine to protect her patients at the nursing home where she worked. However, in July 2021, she began experiencing excruciating pain in her hips, leading to a diagnosis of arthritis at the young age of 31. Subsequent tests revealed that her hip bones were deteriorating, ultimately requiring her to undergo hip replacement surgeries in December 2021 and 2022.
Over the next years, Burnette underwent multiple surgeries on her shoulders, knees, elbow, and feet, with no end in sight to her medical struggles. Her debilitating pain forced her to resign from her job and go on disability, impacting her ability to care for her family and live the life she had envisioned for herself.
Doctors have attributed Burnette’s health complications to a combination of her Covid infection and the vaccine, leading to a condition known as multifocal avascular necrosis (AVN), where bones lose their blood supply and die. This rare but severe outcome has left Burnette with chronic pain, nerve complications, and a myriad of other health issues.
Despite her ordeal, Burnette remains a supporter of vaccines but has become hesitant about receiving new ones in the future.
