Los Angeles, Calif. — Rapper Kanye West recently unveiled “Donda 2,” a long-anticipated follow-up to his 2021 album, during a livestream event. This release marks a continuation of West’s explorations in music, showcasing his unique artistic vision.
The roots of “Donda 2” trace back to early 2022 when West initially announced the album on social media, projecting a February launch with executive production by the artist Future. This latest iteration of the album, released on Tuesday night under the artist name Donda, is made available on various streaming platforms, although its previous version had been exclusive to the Stem Player device. Some tracks from this project also found their way into collaborations with artists like Fivio Foreign and The Game.
The current version of “Donda 2” consists of 18 tracks, many echoing those from the earlier release but featuring new titles and arrangements. Notably, Future contributes his signature sound to several tracks, including “Happy” and “Mr. Miagi.” The track “5:30,” which had originally appeared on West’s collaborative project “Vultures 2” with Ty Dolla Sign, makes a shorter appearance on this album.
In addition to Future, the album includes contributions from other artists such as Jack Harlow on the song “Louie Bag” and Sean Leon on “SCIFI.” Interestingly, West’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, makes a cameo on “SCIFI,” praising West’s talents and accomplishments, including his status as “the richest Black man in America.”
Despite a series of controversies and rants on social media platform X, West has remained active in his music career, even releasing a separate project titled “Bully” earlier this year. This album was presented through a series of short films featuring eccentric visuals, though it left fans uncertain about its official distribution due to its subsequent removal from social media.
As for the future of “Donda 2,” West hinted during his livestream that he is eager to share the project more widely, promising updates and potentially refined mixes. However, it remains uncertain whether it will eventually expand to other streaming services beyond those currently offering it.
Fans can now listen to “Donda 2” on platforms like YouTube Music, Spotify, and Tidal, as anticipation continues to build around West’s ever-evolving discography.
