A double shooting in Miami Beach has left one person dead and another seriously injured, prompting an investigation by the Miami Beach Police Department. The incident occurred around 10:41 p.m. on Friday near Seventh Street on Ocean Drive, where police found two injured men after responding to reports of shots fired.
Both victims were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where one succumbed to his injuries and died. The other individual remains in critical condition. The identities, ages, and background of the victims have not yet been disclosed by the police.
Authorities detained a man at the scene and discovered three firearms, as mentioned in a statement posted on Twitter by the police department. Officers continued to gather information on the scene to determine the cause of the shootout.
Hundreds of people were present at the time of the incident, with some seeking shelter in a nearby tropical cafĂ© called Mango’s.
One eyewitness recounted the chaos that ensued, describing how people were ducking and running for cover when the shots rang out.
Eliana, a college student from New Jersey, observed a substantial police presence in the area but felt it was insufficient. She stated that the officers couldn’t be everywhere, and their presence could only make so much of an impact.
