Authorities responded to the incident at approximately 12:45 a.m., where the shooting unfolded near the Brickell City Centre, a well-known hub for shopping and dining.
Despite the chaos of the crime scene, Miami police have managed to keep traffic disruptions to a minimum. Officers have cordoned off a small section of Southwest 9th Street, near Southwest 1st Avenue, where a white tent marks the spot of the tragedy. The victim’s body lies under the tent as investigators meticulously gather evidence.
The police presence is robust, with a mobile command center stationed nearby. Yet, Southwest 8th Street remains open, allowing commuters to navigate the area with little difficulty. Passersby, however, are stopping to observe the heavy police activity, adding to the tense atmosphere.
Witnesses recount the events leading up to the shooting, describing a heated argument between a man and a woman. One witness, on his way to a nearby bar, heard the confrontation escalate rapidly. “It happened right in front of me,” he said, recalling the shocking scene. “I heard shouting, then seven or eight gunshots rang out.”
The witness recounted seeing a car speed away as one of the shooters fled the scene, dropping and retrieving a weapon before disappearing between buildings. The witness also noted that the woman involved in the argument was left screaming for help in the aftermath.
Investigators are now piecing together the sequence of events, trying to determine what led to the deadly encounter. The Miami Police Department has yet to release further details about the victims or potential suspects.
