Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – The Philadelphia Eagles have expressed their willingness to visit the White House if invited to celebrate their Super Bowl victory, according to various reports. The team was previously disinvited to the White House in 2018 after tensions arose over anthem protests within the NFL.
Speculation had been circulating that the Eagles may not visit the White House to commemorate their recent Super Bowl win, but reports from ESPN, CNN, and the NFL Network confirmed that the Eagles are prepared to attend if extended an invitation. An Eagles source told CNN, “We would be honored to visit the White House. It’s one of the things we had looked forward to doing, and we look forward to receiving the invitation.”
Throughout the season, Eagles offensive lineman Lane Johnson expressed his willingness to visit the White House, emphasizing that it would be an honor regardless of the president in office. Head coach Nick Sirianni stated that the team will make a decision regarding the visit as they progress.
President Trump announced that an invitation will be extended to the Eagles, praising their performance and stating that they deserve recognition at the White House. Teams that have won major championships are typically invited to celebrate their victory with the president, although some teams during Trump’s first term chose not to attend, including the Golden State Warriors and the US Women’s National Team after their 2019 World Cup victory.
While some athletes openly criticized Trump during his first term, there has been less resistance from the sports world in his second term. Trump recently made history as the first sitting president to attend the Super Bowl, receiving a warm welcome from players like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs.
