San Jose, California — As part of its commitment to environmental sustainability, Samsung has launched a new initiative coinciding with Earth Day, allowing consumers to purchase refurbished versions of its Galaxy S24 series at discounted prices. This initiative, known as the Certified Renewed program, aims to reduce electronic waste while providing cost-effective alternatives to buying brand-new devices.
The Galaxy S24 series includes the S24 Ultra, S24+, and S24, each available through this program. Samsung emphasizes that these refurbished devices offer a like-new experience, allowing users to enjoy high-end features while contributing to environmental protection by prolonging the life of existing devices.
Pricing for the refurbished models is competitive. The S24 Ultra starts at $1,019.99 for the 256GB version and goes up to $1,139.99 for the 512GB option. The S24+, available in an elegant onyx black, retails for $799.99 for 256GB and $919.99 for 512GB. The more affordable S24 comes in at $619.99 for the 128GB model and $669.99 for the 256GB variant. When compared to new models, consumers can save between $80 and $90, depending on the configuration.
Customers should be aware that the S24 and S24+ are currently sold out on Samsung’s website, with the S24+ available on retail platforms like Amazon for $849, presenting a savings opportunity of about $70 compared to direct purchases. Samsung’s original S24 Ultra is also no longer sold through the company but can be found on Amazon for approximately $1,055 for the 512GB model, marking an $85 increase over the refurbished option.
Purchasers of devices through the Certified Renewed program can expect a one-year limited warranty, comparable to new devices. Samsung also offers additional coverage options through Samsung Care+. All phones in this initiative are unlocked, making them compatible with various carriers across the United States, including Verizon and AT&T.
Each refurbished device is accompanied by a new charging cable, user manual, ejector pin, and warranty card. Despite being pre-owned, Samsung assures customers that these phones undergo rigorous inspection and repairs using genuine Samsung components, ensuring high quality.
To make the transition to a new device easier, Samsung offers several financing options. Consumers can take advantage of plans such as $0 down and 0% APR through Samsung Financing, as well as alternatives like “Pay in 4” with partners such as Affirm and Klarna.
As technology becomes increasingly integral to daily life, initiatives like Samsung’s Certified Renewed program highlight the intersection of consumer electronics and environmental responsibility, providing substantial benefits to both the buyer and the planet.
