A 65-year-old woman smashed the windows of a Pasadena home where a grandmother was babysitting her 6-week-old granddaughter with a pickaxe, sending shattered glass everywhere.
Beverly Baker, 65, was caught on camera smashing through the windows of a home in a horrifying attack. The woman attacked Arman Tchoukadarian’s family home in Pasadena, damaging $20,000 worth of property.
Police are yet to confirm Baker’s motive for the crime. However, the homeowner fears he was the target of a racist attack because he is Armenian.
The terrifying incident was caught on the homeowner’s Ring camera. Baker attacked Tchoukadarian’s home with a pickaxe while his mother-in-law was babysitting for the family.
Police said Baker destroyed eight windows in Tchoukadarian’s home and was taken into custody after a 30-minute standoff. It appears Baker was “suffering some type of mental health crisis,” though that has not been confirmed.
When Baker attacked the home, she nearly injured Tchoukadarian’s baby who was sleeping in a bassinet beneath the window. The grandmother grabbed the baby from the bassinet just before the window was shattered.
Beverly Baker then returned several times over the course of a few minutes and wreaked havoc on the home. The woman slowly walked away while saying “I’ll be back.”
She was arrested at her home just a few blocks away from where the attack had taken place. For her crimes, she now faces charges of felony vandalism.
