Epstein’s Companion Ghislaine Maxwell Gets Long Prison Sentence

Ghislaine Maxwell Gets 20 Year Sentence

Ghislaine Maxwell sentenced to 20 years in prison

Ghislaine Maxwell, 60, was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison Tuesday for carrying out a years-long scheme with her longtime confidante Jeffrey Epstein to groom and sexually abuse underage girls. Maxwell apologized to the victims but stopped short of taking responsibility.

Maxwell was sentenced to slightly more than 15 years in prison, noting the victims’ disturbing testimony and her “direct and repeated participation in a horrific scheme”. She failed to accept responsibility for her role in the crimes or show remorse.

The judge sentenced Maxwell to 20 years in prison, five years of supervised release and a $750,000 fine, but her defense attorney said she planned to appeal the conviction and push the blame onto Epstein.

The Judge in the case said that Maxwell was being sentenced for her role in the actions of Epstein. That a more appropriate sentence for him would have been 50-75 years in prison.

Eight women gave victim impact statements at Maxwell’s sentencing, including Annie Farmer, who asked the judge to consider the lasting effects of Maxwell’s behavior on her victims. Kate, one of the victims who only used her first name in testifying, said Maxwell’s “final insult” was her lack of remorse after being found guilty.

Sarah Ransome, another accuser, told the court she suffered from alcoholism and had twice attempted suicide because of the abuse.

Afterward, Farmer said she was happy with the 20-year sentence and didn’t believe Maxwell’s statement of apology. She also said she appreciated the opportunity to speak in court and said the things she wanted to say about how Maxwell’s crimes impacted her and her friends.

The prosecution’s case rested primarily on the testimony of four women, including Jane, Carolyn, Kate and Annie Farmer. Jane said Maxwell organized sexual massages with Epstein and sometimes joined in the abuse.
