Escaped inmate Gonzalo Lopez killed by law enforcement after shootout – KXAN.com
An escaped murderer, suspected of killing a family of five, was shot and killed by law enforcement.
Law enforcement started to tail a vehicle matching a description of the one stolen from a home near Centerville on Thursday. Lopez was driving a 1999 white Chevrolet Silverado pickup that was missing from the home where the family was found dead.
Jason Clark, with the Texas Department Of Criminal Justice, said law enforcement in Atascosa County shot and killed Gonzalo Lopez after a shootout.
Lopez escaped a prison bus when he stabbed one of the guards on a transport bus, then fled on foot. Law enforcement searched for him in Leon County about two weeks ago.
Lopez was a career criminal convicted of murder in two countries.
