Leandra Andrade, 38, of Northeast D.C. was found by police suffering a medical emergency at a hotel on Atlantic Avenue around 3:30 a.m. Monday, according to authorities. They also found her 2-year-old daughter, Lanoix, who was dead in the same hotel room upon their arrival.

Leandra Andrade is being held without bond on felony child abuse charges after her 2-year-old daughter was found dead in a hotel room on Monday.

The 2-year-old’s father was recently awarded sole legal custody of the child, but each parent was given equal physical custody of the child.

According to the Metropolitan Police, Andrade left Washington, D.C. after her custody case last week and was last seen in the city on Friday. The child’s father released the following statement regarding his daughter’s death.

Andrade was booked into the Virginia Beach Jail Wednesday and has been held without bond.

Leandra Andrade was arrested in Virginia Beach after a friend contacted police over recent concerning social media posts. Neighbors said they were shocked to hear the news and said the allegations against her are a far cry from the woman they know.

One family vacationing at the same hotel was concerned after hearing the tragic news. The mother said she’s never heard of anybody dying in a hotel.
