(AbsoluteNews.com) – In August 2019, President Donald Trump’s Title X “gag order” went into effect. The change prohibits organizations that receive federal funding from providing abortions or making referrals to clinics that offer the service. A September 3 court ruling may put the order in jeopardy.
On Thursday, the 4th US Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against Trump’s Title X change. The court’s decision stated the administration didn’t “recognize and address the ethical concerns” of medical experts. However, the ruling only impacts Maryland, not other states.

In February, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals sided with Trump in a case against the rule change. The justices cited a Supreme Court ruling from 1988 that gave “broad deference to agencies’” to interpret such rules. The disagreement between the two courts means it’s likely the case will go before the Supreme Court at some point for a final determination about the legality of the changes.
