(AbsoluteNews.com) – For 32 years, California has had a ban in place on “assault” weapons — what the Left calls semi-automatic rifles. A federal judge issued a major ruling that will change what guns people in the Golden State can buy.
On Friday, June 4, District Court for the Southern District of California Senior Judge Roger Benitez struck down the law banning the “assault” style guns. The judge said the “government is not free to impose new policy choices” when it comes to the Constitution. The 1989 ban on the sale of guns “unconstitutionally infringe[s] the Second Amendment” rights of residents in the state. He called the ban a “failed experiment” and said the declarations that an AR-15 is a “weapon of war” is undermined by “a Swiss army knife.”
Gun bans are unconstitutional. Big win for the Second Amendment this week. https://t.co/aH6Pthaby8

In 2019, Benitez also struck down the state’s prohibition of large-capacity magazines.
California’s ban on the sale of AR-15s and the like has never really made any sense. Aside from the fact that it’s unconstitutional, people were able to buy them in other states legally and possess them in the leftist state. Not only that, but criminals didn’t seem to have much of an issue getting their hands on the weapons, either. The only thing the law did was put an unnecessary burden on both buyers and sellers.
