San Francisco, CA – Gemini Live, a video and screen sharing platform, is undergoing interface changes on Android ahead of the upcoming Astra update later this month.
The latest update includes a more compact design, with the large circular buttons for “Hold” and “End” now transformed into smaller pills, reducing the overall height of the interface. These buttons are currently centered but will shift to the right side once video and screen share icons are added.
Google, the company behind Gemini Live, has also eliminated text labels, providing more space at the top of the interface. This extra space will be utilized for features like “Talk Live with” and Astra’s video feed. The updated Gemini Live user interface can be experienced in the Google app beta version 16.10 on Android. However, there is no mention yet of Astra coming to Gemini Live on iPhone.
Additionally, Google has announced that Deep Research is now fully implemented on mobile devices, following a recent announcement. Gemini users can now access double the number of monthly reports at no extra cost, although specific figures have not been disclosed.
Another new feature introduced by Google is the 2.0 Flash Thinking model, an experimental system that offers improved efficiency and speed. It includes access to apps, replacing the previous “with apps” version, and allows for file uploads. Furthermore, Personalization, another experimental feature, is now more widely accessible.
While saved information is now more widely available on both desktop and mobile, not all users have access to the free Gems feature provided by Gemini. Please note that this article may contain affiliate links.
