Gingrich: Dems Trying to Steal Election

( – The General Election is about three months away and already it looks like it’s going to be an unmitigated disaster. Democratic lawmakers across the country are pushing, and in some cases passing, laws that will change the way Americans vote. Republicans are trying desperately to maintain the sanctity of our electoral process and are pushing back.

While the Democrats pushing for mail-in voting expansions claim it’s to help weather the COVID-19 pandemic, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich thinks there’s a more nefarious reason.

Newt Talks Elections

During an August 5 interview with “Fox & Friends,” Gingrich warned this election is going to be the “most disastrous election in American history.” He believes the reason Democrats are pushing for the expansion of mail-in voting is they can’t win honestly, so they’re trying “to set up an ability to steal it.”

President Donald Trump has warned of the same thing. In fact, this week the commander-in-chief’s re-election campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNC) filed a lawsuit to stop Nevada Democrats from doing that. The state pushed through a law that requires ballots to be automatically sent to every registered voter during a statewide emergency, like the COVID-19 pandemic.

New York City did something similar and it’s been weeks since their primary election and some races still haven’t been called.

There are real concerns with mail-in voting and fraud, but also with changing the way an election is held this close to the date. Presidential elections always have the largest turnout. Now, imagine what it’s going to be like when millions of ballots start flooding in and cause chaos. It’s not hard to imagine a scenario where votes are miscounted or lost.

Then what? How are we to trust the results? And how will that impact our democracy?
