Godfather Star John Aprea Passes Away at 83: His Life and Legacy

Los Angeles, California – Renowned actor John Aprea, famous for his roles in “The Godfather Part II” and “Full House,” has passed away due to natural causes at the age of 83. His manager, Will Levine, confirmed that Aprea died on August 7 at his residence in Los Angeles, surrounded by his loved ones.

Aprea considered his portrayal of young Salvatore Tessio in “The Godfather Part II” as one of his greatest career accomplishments. Initially, Aprea auditioned for the role of Michael Corleone in the original ‘Godfather’ film, which was ultimately given to Al Pacino. However, director Francis Ford Coppola later cast him in the 1974 sequel.

His acting career took off when he made his debut in Steve McQueen’s “Bullitt” in 1968. Throughout the ’80s and ’90s, Aprea showcased his versatility by appearing in various TV shows such as “Knots Landing,” “Falcon Crest,” “The Gangster Chronicles,” and “Full House.”

Aprea also notably played the character of Nick Katsopolis, the father of Uncle Jesse (played by John Stamos) in “Full House” and reprised his role in the show’s reboot, “Fuller House.” Additionally, he had roles in daytime TV, including a lengthy stint on “Another World” in two different roles.

Paul Carafotes, a close friend and former costar from “Knots Landing,” paid tribute to Aprea, emphasizing the impact the actor had on those around him. Aprea leaves behind a lasting legacy in the entertainment industry and will be remembered by many for his contributions to film and television.
