(AbsoluteNews.com) – President Joe Biden spoke about unity in his inaugural address, but we’ve yet to see Democrats show any of that bipartisan cooperation. In fact, it seems quite the opposite is true on Capitol Hill.
On February 4, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) submitted a request to the Judiciary Committee that asked lawmakers to start every meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. Democrats in the House shot down the request and were caught on a hot mic mocking the conservative lawmaker.
The day after leftist lawmakers denied his request, Gaetz spoke out on Fox News and defended himself. The Florida lawmaker said he was just trying to “celebrate patriotism” and “unify the country.”
This week, Democrats mocked Republicans because we wanted to say the Pledge of Allegiance.
It takes 15 seconds to say it.
Our country desperately needs to see how Republicans and Democrats can come together over SOMETHING…but Democrats refuse to unify even over our pledge. pic.twitter.com/8cGnyYX0N2

During the committee meeting, Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) said the House already says the Pledge at the start of every day, so he thought it was “unnecessary” to say it twice. Rep. Gaetz disagreed and he wasn’t alone. Freshman Rep. Burgess Owens (R-UT) slammed his Liberal colleagues, saying it’s “pathetic” that none of them could “be bothered to show 15 seconds of unity and patriotism.”
It seems for all of their talk of unity, the Democratic Party is still refusing to walk the walk.
