(AbsoluteNews.com) – The Democratic Party is getting closer to passing its $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package. The Senate is currently negotiating the bill, and Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has a lot to say about it.
On March 2, Senate Minority Leader McConnell slammed Democrats for shoving their relief package down the throats of the American people. Not because he is opposed to helping those in need, though. He says that “less than 9%” of the bill is actually going to directly fight the pandemic. The rest of the legislation is just “unrelated liberal policies.” For example, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) had a $140 million rail extension included in the bill.
Less than 9% of Democrats' spending plan would go to directly fight COVID-19. Less than 1% to vaccinations.
This isn’t a recipe to safely reopen America. It’s what Democrats promised almost a year ago: Taking advantage of the crisis to check off unrelated liberal policies.

Democrats plan to use budget reconciliation to jam the bill through. That means the GOP won’t be able to stop it from passing because the Left will only need a simple majority. However, the Democrats will need every one of their senators plus the independents to agree — which is not a certainty — to get the even split. This would force Kamala Harris to cast the deciding vote. The Senate could vote on the bill as early as this weekend, we’ll keep you posted.
