NEW YORK, NY – The search intensifies for a gunman who authorities say fatally shot a beloved father and former amateur boxer in the Bronx nearly a week ago. The family of Carlos Teran, 34, is grappling with an unimaginable loss and is calling for justice in the aftermath of his tragic death.
Carlos Teran was a devoted father of two young children, a four-year-old daughter and a two-month-old son. “He became a dad, and someone took that away from two little kids,” said his brother, George Teran, who is struggling to come to terms with the sudden and violent loss. “I’m not okay. It’s been an emotional roller coaster.”
The incident occurred last Tuesday on Clinton Avenue in the East Tremont neighborhood. Officers responding to the scene found Carlos lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the head. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
Carlos was not only a cherished family member but also a success story from his community. He grew up in the same neighborhood where he was killed and had established himself as a hardworking individual with a promising future. He worked diligently in a private sanitation company and had recently acquired a new car, symbolizing his dedication to improving life for himself and his family.
In addition to his professional achievements, Carlos was an accomplished amateur boxer. He began boxing at the age of nine and eventually reached the Golden Gloves finals, a testament to his talent and perseverance in the sport.
The loss has left his family devastated and seeking answers. “All that work gone in an instant, leaving a family crushed and angry,” George expressed. The family is urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward, as they remain baffled about who would want to harm Carlos.
The New York Police Department continues to investigate the case, appealing to the public for any leads that might bring the perpetrator to justice. Carlos’s family hopes that eventually, justice will be served for a man they say was loved by all who knew him.
