MAMMOTH LAKES, Calif. – Well-known actor Haley Joel Osment is facing charges of public intoxication and cocaine possession following an incident at a ski resort in Northern California earlier this month. The Mono County District Attorney’s office officially revealed the misdemeanor charges against the 37-year-old actor on Thursday. Osment, famous for his roles in movies such as “The Sixth Sense” and “A.I.” was taken into custody on April 8 at Mammoth Mountain ski resort on suspicion of public intoxication, according to District Attorney David Anderson.
Osment is scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment on July 7. His representative has not yet responded to requests for comment on the charges. The actor gained widespread acclaim and a best supporting actor Oscar nomination through his performance opposite Bruce Willis in the thriller “The Sixth Sense.” Following this success, he starred in Steven Spielberg’s “A.I.” and has continued to work steadily as a voice actor. In 2006, he was charged with driving under the influence and marijuana possession after crashing his car into a mailbox in Los Angeles, resulting in a broken rib.
