(AbsoluteNews.com) – The American people have been waiting for weeks for Congress to help them get through the COVID-19 pandemic. On September 8, the Senate will finally return to Capitol Hill and they’re expected to work on the next coronavirus stimulus package. In fact, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin believes Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is going to introduce new legislation very soon.
Does that mean you might finally get another direct payment?
Well, that’s not clear yet. During a September 1 interview with PBS NewsHour, Senate Republican Conference Chairman John Barrasso (R-WY) said the GOP is working on a “targeted solution” they hope will be agreeable to the House. The legislation is reportedly going to allocate money for unemployed Americans and schools.
There were reports of a targeted bill last week, as well.

There’s no word on whether or not the targeted bill will include direct payments to the American people. That would definitely be helpful; Republicans seem very focused on the most vulnerable right now. Getting more money to schools that are struggling to reopen, and the workers whose enhanced benefits have ended is incredibly important.
