Los Angeles, California – Jonathan Majors, known for his roles in Marvel and “Creed III,” found relief as his ex-girlfriend dismissed a federal lawsuit against him on Thursday. The lawsuit had accused the actor of assault and defamation, stemming from a conviction in December 2023 for two misdemeanor counts of assaulting Grace Jabbari in the back seat of an SUV. As a result, Majors was mandated earlier this year to receive domestic violence counseling.
Jabbari initially filed the lawsuit in March, claiming that Majors defamed her by denying any acts of violence in an interview with “Good Morning America” following the guilty verdict. However, both parties’ attorneys jointly announced the dismissal of all claims against Majors with prejudice in a notice submitted to the court on Thursday.
Despite facing legal challenges, Majors had a promising year ahead in 2023 with roles in “Creed III” alongside Michael B. Jordan and as Kang the Conqueror in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.” Unfortunately, his arrest in March 2023 led to him being let go by his management and public relations firms, with Marvel also cutting ties after his conviction.
Originally slated to play the villain in “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” Majors’ role was replaced as the film was subsequently scrapped. Marvel shifted focus to “Avengers: Doomsday,” featuring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. However, there have been signs of a career rebound for Majors, with his casting in the thriller “Merciless” by director Martin Villeneuve. Additionally, “Magazine Dreams,” a film starring Majors, was picked up for release by Briarcliff Entertainment in the upcoming year after Searchlight Pictures backed out.
Throughout this ordeal, Majors consistently refuted the assault accusations and expressed his eagerness to continue his acting career in Hollywood.
