(AbsoluteNews.com) – March 2, was ‘Read Across America’ Day. The annual event takes place on beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss’s birthday each year. When former President Barack Obama was in office, he began the tradition of mentioning the author in his proclamations on the day. President Joe Biden broke that tradition this year amid claims the author was racist. Now a tweet from the past from his vice president is in the news.
In 2017, Kamala Harris wished the author, who passed away in 1991, a happy birthday on Read Across America Day.
Happy birthday, #DrSeuss! “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”
— Kamala Harris (@KamalaHarris) March 2, 2017
This year, neither she nor Biden acknowledged the work of the author on the day that was established in 1998 to honor him. On the same day, Dr. Seuss Enterprises announced it was no longer going to publish six of the author’s books because of perceived racist imagery. It seems not even children’s books are safe from the Left’s cancel culture.
