Los Angeles, California – The Los Angeles Kings have moved in a new direction following the departure of vice president and general manager Rob Blake, as announced by team president Luc Robitaille on Monday. The organization will begin the search for Blake’s successor immediately.

This past season, the Kings, with a record of 48-25-9, ended their playoff run after falling to the Edmonton Oilers in the opening round, marking the fourth consecutive year the team was eliminated by the same opponent.

Blake joined the Kings in 2013 as assistant general manager before taking over the top role in 2017, succeeding Dean Lombardi. A former defenseman, Blake spent 14 of his 20 NHL seasons with Los Angeles after being drafted in the fourth round of the 1988 draft. He remains a franchise icon, ranking first among Kings defensemen for career goals and second in assists, points, and games played.
