Pembroke Pines, Florida – Former NFL star Lawrence Taylor found himself in legal trouble once again as he was arrested for failing to report his residence change as a registered sex offender. The 65-year-old Pro Football Hall of Famer turned himself in to the Broward Sheriff’s Office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and was subsequently released on bail. Taylor’s attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, has stated that the arrest stems from a misunderstanding and that Taylor intends to plead not guilty to the charges.
This is not the first time Taylor has faced legal issues related to failing to report an address change. Back in December 2021, he was arrested on similar charges. The football legend was obligated to register as a sex offender after being convicted of misdemeanor offenses of sexual misconduct and patronizing an underage prostitute in New York back in 2011, with a concurrent six-year probation sentence. Taylor publicly claimed he was unaware of the girl’s age at the time of the incident.
During his illustrious 13-year career with the New York Giants, Lawrence Taylor was a dominant force on the field, earning Pro Bowl honors 10 times and All-Pro distinctions eight times. His stellar performance led to his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999. Despite his accomplishments on the field, Taylor’s off-the-field troubles have tarnished his reputation in recent years.
Lawrence Taylor’s latest legal entanglement serves as a reminder of the challenges he has faced since retiring from professional football. As the case unfolds, Taylor and his legal team maintain that he is innocent of the charges brought against him. Only time will tell how this chapter in the football legend’s life will ultimately unfold.
