Man arrested for exposing himself to children

AVENTURA, FL – A man has been ordered by a judge to stay away from his condominium after being accused of inappropriate behavior around children in the building. The incidents occurred at Turnberry Village, a high-rise condo complex in Aventura, where the suspect, Steven Geddes, allegedly attempted to lure children and exposed himself.

Aventura police had been actively searching for Geddes, eventually locating and arresting him at a medical facility. He appeared before a judge, who prohibited him from returning to his condo except to collect his belongings within a 48-hour window, and barred him from having unsupervised contact with minors.

The police report outlines at least four troubling episodes involving Geddes at the condo’s pool and gym areas. In one instance, he reportedly made inappropriate comments referencing his groin in front of two teenagers. His lawyer attempted to dismiss the comment as sarcasm, but the judge rejected this defense, emphasizing the seriousness of the behavior towards minors.

On another occasion, Geddes allegedly approached the same teenagers at the pool. When they ignored him, he reportedly threatened to drag them out of the water. The report describes how these interactions left the teens feeling uncomfortable.

In a separate incident, Geddes reportedly joined two 11-year-olds playing pickleball, offering them pizza and inviting them to his home for a gathering. His behavior prompted a security guard to intervene, instructing Geddes to leave the children alone.

Geddes has been granted a brief period of time, under police supervision, to retrieve his personal items from his condo. Afterward, he is required to vacate the premises until further notice.

The allegations against Geddes have raised concerns among residents, with many expressing relief at the swift action taken by law enforcement. The case highlights the importance of vigilance in community spaces, particularly regarding the safety of children.

As the investigation continues, Geddes remains prohibited from returning to his home, pending further legal proceedings. The community awaits the outcome, hoping for a resolution that ensures the safety and security of all residents.
