FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – Authorities have apprehended a man suspected of a series of violent crimes, including the armed sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl and two attempted abductions. Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) officials announced the arrest during a joint press conference. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Randell McDonald, faces multiple charges.
McDonald is accused of approaching his victims in a gray car, brandishing a firearm, and demanding they get into the vehicle. One of the incidents involved a teenage girl who was walking to a friend’s house early Tuesday morning. According to police, McDonald threatened her with a gun, forcing her to comply.
Once the girl was inside the car, McDonald allegedly drove to a secluded area where he sexually assaulted her. The victim, understandably terrified, followed his orders to avoid further harm. The incident has left the community in shock and heightened concerns about safety.
Authorities believe McDonald is also connected to two other attempted kidnappings in Pompano Beach. In each case, he reportedly used a similar method of intimidation, approaching victims with a firearm and demanding they enter his vehicle. Fortunately, these attempts were unsuccessful.
BSO officials emphasized the gravity of the charges McDonald faces, which include kidnapping and sexual assault with a weapon. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
The arrest has brought some relief to the community, but the traumatic nature of the crimes has left a lasting impact. Local law enforcement continues to work diligently to ensure the safety and security of residents.
